Night time CeraVe / The Ordinary skin care routine for normal to oily skin

Since past few months, I have been following a lot of skin care blogs, be it out of lockdown boredom or mere interest in getting healthy looking, acne free, hyperpigmentation free skin. Following the recommendations and learning the details about the ingredients used in the product, I made a day time and night time routine for us and we are following it already for few months. And we are pretty happy with the results. I thought of sharing my night time routine with you guys first, as my husband’s routine differs slightly from mine, due to our skin type differences.

I will link some of the best channels I have came across and found useful at the end of the blog.

We keep our skin-care routine to fairly minimal and easy to follow.

Cleanser

The first step of any skin-care routine is a mild cleanser, which takes off all the dirt which have collected during the day or if you wear make-up, also breaks down the makeup in the process. As I don’t wear any makeup, usually I only follow one step cleaning (no oil based cleansing).

We are using the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser for this step. This cleasner doesn’t leave your skin try and streching and cleans it really nicely. CeraVe is known for their fragernce free product lines, where all the products are infused with ceramides.

Ingredients: Aqua / Water / Eau, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Peg-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate, Niacinamide, Peg-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl, Taurate, Propylene Glycol, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Eop, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Cholesterol, Disodium Edta, Propylparaben, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium Edta, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum

Water-based serums

The only skin which I am currently using to treat some of the left-over marks from previous acne is The ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% . I have been using this serum now for 2 months. I won’t say that it has changed everything about my hyperpigmentation, but it is working slowly. I can see slowly the hyperpigmentation become ligher and ligher. I apply the serum after cleaning and patting dry my face with a soft towel and leave it to dry for 30 seconds before I apply my next step products, giving it enough time to absorb in skin.

This serum can be applied to the whole face including the under-eye area, which is not the case for all kinds of serum due to the ingredients.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, Zinc PCA, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Tamarindus Indica Seed Gum, Xanthan gum, Isoceteth-20, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

Moisturizers and eye cream

I told you, my skin care routine is fairly simple. I am sorry if you wanted so see more layers in between. I am strong believer in the “less is more” theory as long as you have got all you need to take care of your skin.

Although eye cremes are nothing but expensive moisturizers, I have to finish the ones which I have already bought. I am using currently the Cerave Eye Repair Cream. It is very hydrating but doesn’t feel fatty.

I have to be honest. I haven’t seen much difference before and after using this eye cream when it comes to dark circles and puffiness. Thank you heredity for that. Once I am done with the current one, I will use my normal moisturizer as my eye cream.

When it comes to daily moisturizer, since past couple of months I am using The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA . If you are someone with dry skin, you won’t find it very moisturizing, but for my skin it works well. It doesn’t feel oily and gets absorbed pretty fast. This will be the first winter, where I will be using this cream and in winter my skin tend to be more dry than oily. May be I will update the review after winter here.

Similar to the cleanser and serum, both the creams are also fragrance free.
