CeraVe favorites from year 2020

We can all proudly say that we survived the year 2020 and can look forward to what 2021 brings for us. 2020 can also be marked as the year where the focus changed drastically from make-up towards skin-care because we were forced to stay at home and there was no need of make-up and we got enough time on our hands to try on new skincare products to find out what works for us.

One of our favorite brand last year was hands down CeraVe because of the quality of their products. We tried quite some products from the brand and I would like to share with all of you some of our favorites. I will mention the products in order to application; first cleansers, then serums/moisturizers, then sunscreens.

Foaming Facial Cleanser

This is the first CeraVe products we got our hands on and I don’t think as long as CeraVe continues this product, we are going to try even another cleanser.

Skin types

  • Normal to Oily Skin

Usage and plus points

  • Twice daily, am and pm if only using this cleanser
  • Removes all the excess oil and dirt from skin without stripping the skin of all its moisture. Skin doesn’t feel dry after washing and feels clean.

SA Smoothening Cleanser

After doing my research about the down sides of using AHA toners (such as glycolic acid) on hyperpigmentation prone medium to dark skins and benefits of BHAs (such as Salicylic acid), I decided to give this cleanser a try.

Skin types

  • Hyperpigmentation prone skin, dry and rough skin

Usage and plus points

  • Use in evening, 2 or 3 times a week as we don’t need exfoliation every day.
  • Using SA in a wash form has an advantage that your skin has only limited exposure to it, unlike the leave on products, such as toners or serums, which reduces the risk of getting hyperpigmentation from the exfoliating agent. Even though the exposure time is less, you still get the benefit from the chemical exfoliators.

Regenrating Eye cream

This is one of the product which one definitely don’t need in a skincare routine because you can still can get the benefits of an eye creme from your normal moisturizer, unless you are treating a specific problem as dark circles, or puffiness. I have light dark under-eye areas and around the eyes I tend to be dry compared to rest of my face.

Skin types

  • dry under , around the eye area

Usage and plus points

  • Apply in the evening after cleaning your face and after applying any serum which you also apply around eye areas (Niacinamide for e.g.) .
  • Skin around the eyes is very delicate, so be gentle and dont rub while applying.
  • This creme is very moisturizing and the skin around the eyes feels very nourished after using this. I didn’t see much improvement in my dark-circle though but I still like the hydrating effect of this cream.

Moisturizing Cream with SPF 25

This moisturizer + SPF has been our winter favorite last year and also this year. I had some burning in the eye, when I wore this also around the eyes and the sun shone in my eyes but other than that its lovely.

Skin types

  • Dry skin, normal and oily skin. I have oily skin but I don’t find this lotion at all fattening.

Usage and plus points

  • Apply during day time after cleaning your face and applying any serums that you use.
  • UV filters are all chemical filters so doesn’t leave any white cast.
  • It provides good moisturization for those winter months without leaving the skin shiny or feeling it oily.

SA Smoothening cream

This one is an exception to the products above that it is not for face but for body. I will still not count myself in those people who take care of their body skin. I have formed a working facial skincare routine but still struggle in the overall skincare. I picked this cream for my body because I tend to have very dry skin (I should not wonder, when I don’t apply anything moisturizing ) and thanks to the long runs in the hot summer in short sport clothes without sunscreen, my legs were not the best looking, I have to admit, not to mention the uneven hyperpigmentation. This cream has Salicylic acid in it which is a BHA and helps exfoliates gently without aggravating hyperpigmentation. Also it has very thick consistency and is very hydrating.

Skin types

  • Dry, rough skin

Usage and plus points

  • Apply after showering on damp skin
  • It hydrates and gently exfoliates the needy dry skin and leaves the skin feeling smooth.

And that was all the great products from CeraVe that we wanted to share with you all. If you made it till this point, I hope you enjoyed reading the blog post. Leave in comments, what are your favorite skin care products from year 2020?
